Justine Overacker

Justine's Background

Justine graduated with her BS in Geophysics from the University of Nevada, Reno in May 2012 with academic minors in Geology, Hydrogeology, and Mathematics. After a short internship, she was recruited by industry and took a job as a Field Geophysicist aboard a seismic vessel. There, she spent up to 300 days a year floating around the ocean in such exciting places as East Africa, West Africa, Nova Scotia, and the Gulf of Mexico, and traveling to exotic locations like Abu Dhabi and Norway.

After the O&G crunch in 2015, while working as an electromagnetic geophysical technician, Justine decided it was time to go back to school and returned to the University of Nevada, Reno to get her PhD in Geophysics. She still loves fieldwork, but now also enjoys the comforts of home and family regularly.

In her off time, Justine enjoys traveling, her silly doggos, playing and listening to music, watching movies, rooting for the SF Giants and 49ers, and riding her motorcycle.
